An Interview with Kitty Wilder
This precious soul with the electric smile explains how building her capacity for joy enabled her to stay emotionally healthy during her 6-week Covid19 hospital stay in the ICU. In fact, she says that as we build joy, we build a shield for future trauma. Fascinating.
This interview is worth every minute. Turn this on as you’re cleaning your kitchen and you will never see joy the same way. If you are wondering about Immanuel Journaling, you can get it here from Life Model Works. It has changed my relationship with shame (but that’s a story with another day.)
2. Easy way to build an evening habit
I’m a visual learner. Whenever I get into a netflixing binge rut, I reach for a tray. It builds anticipation all day long, enabling your brain to go over your newly desired habit in your brain long before dusk comes. Have fun with it. This is perfect if you want to develop the examen practice. In fact, this is what I’ll be doing again this week.
3. Lectio Divina: Psalm 27:13-14
This is the scripture I reach out to when I’m crying out to God and it happens to be another beautiful way to do an examen, practice #2. Push play and I’ll lead you through a prayer time with this beautiful scripture:
I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.

Remember, give yourself lots of grace when trying new things. At first, they might be clunky.
The best things grow slow. Our brains grow 3 mm a month! That’s SLOW! But, just as you might hold the hand of a nephew or niece as you walk through the park, watching them grow and explore, the Lord has incredible delight in this slow journey with you. You are free to walk forward with curiosity and compassion.
